Job Description
Brookstone Church’s Pastoral Care Ministry exists to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the members, attenders, and families of the Brookstone Church Family. Additionally, we must always be active in the “Great Commission”, for the souls of all those we encounter. Our goal is to be Jesus’ hands and feet in the difficulties and challenges of this life. Some examples are health issues, hospital stays, family challenges, funerals, lost loved ones, etc.
Reports To
The Pastor of Pastoral Care reports to the Discipleship Pastor and the Executive Pastor.
Qualifications
The Pastoral Care Pastor needs to have a loving, caring, and giving heart with a legacy of Christian integrity and influence.
Pursue a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and exhibit evidence of living a Spirit-filled life.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance to Brookstone.
Promote a positive, ministry-minded, and healthy environment as a team player with pastor and staff as well as church leaders, members, guests, and the community at large.
Possess a servant attitude and desire to serve the Lord through the local church.
Relate well with all people in attitude and appearance.
Be proficient in planning, organizing, and handling multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently with the ability to give attention to detail and accuracy while maintaining a professional, courteous manner.
Exercise good judgment and positively influence others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency.
Exhibit a high degree of integrity and strictly protect confidential information.
Possess a thorough knowledge of the church by-laws, policies, procedures, and general church practices.
Possess the skills necessary to perform the functions of the job and show the capacity to learn additional skills which the job may require.
Expectations and Job Duties
Oversee and maintain the Pastoral Care Team
Provide oversight to the Benevolence Ministry of Brookstone Church
Lead the team in the development of infrastructure to insure the existence of a solid “care environment” for all church attendees.
Develop a team of “lay pastors” who will serve immediately following services during relevant special events, providing attendees with a “next step” following a service.
Ensure a pastor is available to the congregation when needed for weddings, funerals, hospitalizations, etc.
Create, maintain, and distribute a “pastoral care report” outlining, case-by-case, each pastoral care situation in the church (births, divorce, marital infidelity, job loss, financial crisis, deaths, etc.)
Create and maintain a Ministry Staff Hospital board listing congregational hospitalizations, including specifics of each.
Function as a member of the pastoral staff performing baptism services, weddings, funerals, hospital visits, etc. as a part of a rotation schedule.
Assist in the development of an annual departmental budget and manage spending to the budget.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Strive to maintain and protect biblical priorities in the home.

Seek to maintain accountability through participation in a relational environment.
Oversight:
The Pastor of Pastoral Care is responsible for the leadership of the volunteers that make up the Pastoral Care and Prayer teams.

A competitive salary wage commensurate with experience will be provided.
