Ruth 2:11a King James Version (KJV)
11 And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband
When Ruth asked Boaz why he gave her favor and allowed her to glean in his fields, he told her it had been shewed or reported to him all that she had done. I doubt when Ruth started her day, if she knew the blessings she would receive simply by working hard and having a good word spoken about her. I think her intention was to gather enough food for herself and her mother-in-law to eat that night. However, but working diligently, and selflessly, she gained the attention of the owner of the field.
Many who are single, and looking, sometimes wonder if God will bless them with a relationship. After I had lost my husband at a relatively young age, and after several years of healing from grief, I began to wonder if I would have the opportunity to find love again. What I kept hearing from the Lord was to continue to work hard at the tasks He had given me to do, and to put Him first.
He showed me that I needed to concern myself with my relationship with Him, and my character, and He would take care of the rest. By doing my job as unto the Lord, and by seeking Him for all other projects that came my way, I was able to put my mind at ease regarding another possible life-mate, and become a woman that would be worthy of a Godly man someday. Whether that day comes or not, I know that my relationship to the Lord is what is most important, and that is a reputation I want to always have.
If you are single, and looking for a mate, what is your biggest fear?
Does reputation and a Godly character really matter in this day and age?
