Leon-2.jpg
Leon's Story
Leon didn’t grow up connected to church, and for a long time he never imagined faith becoming part of his life. But during one of the hardest seasons he had ever faced, his mom invited him to attend her church. That morning, he was completely undone before the Lord. Something in his heart shifted. It wasn’t a full surrender yet, but it was the moment his posture toward God began to change.

Years earlier, a coworker had invited him to Brookstone Weaverville. Leon and his soon-to-be wife Robin decided to attend the same church together. This same friend from years ago is who he sat with at the men's event. That night, as he listened, Leon realized he had never truly asked Jesus to save him. In the quiet of that moment, he surrendered his life to Christ.

Since then, he has been baptized, found a home in a LifeGroup, and now serves with our production and BKids teams. He and his wife, Robin, have blended their family and built deep roots here, with kids who love being part of church and growing in their own faith. Today he says, “I’m a work in progress, but God is doing what I could never do on my own.”

Avery's Story
Avery didn’t walk into Brookstone feeling instantly at home. It was new, unfamiliar, and a little outside his comfort zone. But something kept drawing him back.

Each time he returned, someone noticed him. A conversation sparked. A name was remembered. Slowly, what once felt new began to feel familiar. What once felt uncertain began to feel like home.

As Avery took steps to get involved, he found his place on the worship team and now serves as a singer. Being part of this team at our Brookstone East location has reawakened something he hadn’t experienced in years: a sense of belonging, purpose, and joy. Worship has become more than a role; it’s become a place where his faith is growing and his gifts are being used to serve others.

Today, Avery is part of a church family that feels deeply connected and life-giving. He looks forward to continuing to grow in his relationship with God and being part of a church that reflects the heart of the Kingdom of Heaven. In his words, this is the family he’s grateful to belong to, and he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

The Gantt's Story

Lindsay met Chad years ago, and when they got married, they made a simple commitment to go to church together. Over time, they attended a few different churches, but never truly put down roots.

Two years ago, everything changed. Lindsay’s brother passed away, and in the aftermath, she lost her way. She focused on taking care of her family and doing what needed to be done, but privately, she was coping by drinking every night. It started as a way to numb the pain and slowly became a habit. Chad never pressured her. He simply told her, “You’ll quit when you’re ready.”

On January 1, 2025, Lindsay stopped drinking. Since then, she’s felt clearer and healthier.

An invitation helped bring their family home. Adrienne Franklin invited Lindsay and Chad to church after their boys connected through baseball. When Lindsay asked her kids what they thought, their answer was simple: it was awesome. It felt like home.

Upon one of the Brookstone services they attended early on, during a worship song, she realized she had been fighting battles on her own, without asking God for help. This declared the battle had already been won, and something broke inside her heart. She felt a weight lift that she had been carrying since the night she lost her brother. Chad noticed the change in her immediately. She thought she had been saved before, but in this moment, she knew for certain God had saved her and redeemed her story.

That change began to ripple through their family. Their son, Elliott, had been asking questions about heaven, and one night, Chad prayed with Elliott and his younger brother, Sullivan, as he surrendered his life to Christ.

In November, Elliott and Lindsay were baptized together, a moment that brought deep joy.

Today, Lindsay and Chad are stepping into a new season. For the first time, they’re getting involved, serving, and committing to a church family. Chad plans to serve on the security team, and Lindsay is joining the teardown team at our Brookstone Enka location. Looking back, they can see God’s hand in every step, from friendships and invitations to moments that came full circle. What once felt scattered now feels purposeful.

Steve & Holly Hall’s Story

Steve and Holly Hall have followed Jesus for many years. Steve gave his life to Christ at a tent revival in Burnsville in 1966, and Holly has been a faithful believer for much of her life as well. Their faith was real, but there was still more God had in store.

When Holly’s family began attending Brookstone, her mother started inviting Steve and Holly to come along. Each time, Steve would kindly respond, “Someday I will.” When the Come and See initiative began, those invitations continued, and eventually, they decided it was time.

They attended Brookstone together and quickly felt at home. In March of 2024, Steve and Holly officially joined Brookstone Church, and by 2025, they had become faithful members of the Burnsville campus.

In June, Pastor Jim taught on the importance of baptism. As the service ended, Holly realized she had never been baptized and had never fully understood its significance. She approached Pastor Jared and shared that realization. At the same time, Steve felt prompted as well and asked if he could be baptized again alongside his wife.

On June 22, 2025, Steve and Holly stood side by side and publicly professed their faith through baptism, together as husband and wife. As Steve stepped out of the baptismal, he wrapped his arms around Holly and said, “I have never felt better than I do right now.”

What began with a simple invitation became a powerful moment of obedience and unity. Their story is a reminder that God still works through faithful persistence, open hearts, and the courage to say yes when “someday” finally becomes today.
